THE CORO INTERNAZIONALE di PISTORIA GOSPEL CHOIR OF ITALY
raising funds for the Cancer Centre Campaign
Friday 6th April at St Botolphs Church doors openat 7pm for 7.30 start.
An Italian Gospel Choir is travelling to Colchester next month, to help raise funds for Colchester’s Cancer Centre Campaign.
The International Choir of Pistoria, a Tuscan based Gospel Choir, will perform at St Botolph’s Church on the evening of Friday 6th April and among its repertoire will be the famous nursery rhyme written by Colchester poet Jane Taylor.
Concert organiser Peter Clements said the Choir always likes to make a local connection and was delighted to find out that ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ had been written locally. “As well as singing the nursery rhyme, the choir has put two more of Jane Taylor’s writings to music but which ones will remain a secret until the night.”
Choir master, Dr Augustine Iroatulam found out about the Cancer Centre Campaign whilst visiting Colchester Hospital last year. He was so impressed with the fund-raising efforts and the community’s response that he immediately offered to come back with his choir and help.
The Campaign is fast reaching the £3.25m target needed to start building works at Colchester General Hospital and hopes to have raised enough money by this time next year to complete the interior and be ready to open in the summer of 2019.
